Why – No Other Name? Scripture Reading: Acts 4:11 - 12

“For Jesus is the one referred to in the Scriptures, where it says, ‘The stone that you builders rejected has now become the cornerstone.’ There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.”

We are living in a day and an age globally and even in this wonderful nation of Canada where our anthem still lifts up the prayer in song, ‘God keep our land glorious and free’, when many of our leaders and people are saying that everything and everyone need simply to come together in spite of all of our differences and personal beliefs and unite with one another. When it comes to the biblical reality that salvation of the human heart can be only achieved by accepting the truth of God’s one and only Son Jesus Christ, these people would ask, ‘Why – No Other Name?’

As to the clarion clear call and answer to this question the following applies to the precious name of Jesus Christ: It is He whom all of the law and the prophets referred to as God’s sent Messiah sent for the salvation of all; Jesus Christ is the cornerstone of the church of the living God comprised of all of those who have found forgiveness of their sins and have been born-again by the Spirit of God into newness of life; Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of a young virgin named Mary; at Jesus baptism, the Holy Spirit appeared in the form of a dove, and the voice of the Father was heard saying that this was His beloved Son, listen to Him;  Jesus lived the perfect, sinless life showing for all who will see the exact likeness of God the Father; Jesus Christ gave sight to the blind, hearing to the deaf, healing to the lame, even raised up the dead proving Who He is – God in the flesh; It was Jesus Christ who was crucified on the cross as the Lamb of God come to take away the sins of the world; and finally Jesus Christ is not dead, but He is alive as a demonstration of Who He is – God’s one and only Son in perfect fellowship with the Holy Spirit and the Father in the unity of the Trinity!

Yes, my sister and brother it is He – Jesus Christ who is alive in your heart and life in the Person and power of the Holy Spirit, and He is calling you and I to share the story of His great love, until He calls us home, or we see Him in the clouds of glory. Go ahead, and share your story, for there is no other name given to anyone, anywhere under heaven by which people must be saved except the precious and holy name of Jesus Christ our living and loving Savior and Lord.

Prayer Heavenly Father I approach Your throne of grace once again today in the precious name of Jesus Christ, Your One and only Son, in whom I have found forgiveness and fullness of life in the Person and power of the Holy Spirit. Use me to tell my story and further the Good News of the Gospel, to the ends of the earth I pray, in each and every situation and way that You are calling from me.
